And this is how it happened.....
In 1996, upon retiring the corporate world, I moved to Central Texas. I was encouraged by loved ones to open my own business in Salado. A store........hmmmmmmmm "I can do that!" Naming it was another thing. The first question people asked when they walked through my door "How did you come up with the name Aunt Granny's?"
So how did I get that name???
A high school friend gave birth to a bouncing little boy after I already had grandchildren .......in jesting with what I should be called by this young man she named me "Aunt Granny Mary Lynn".
Well one thing led to another.....
When I opened my shop a dear Aunt who had once owned her own shop in Austin, TX, came to help me set up. She was having a time remembering what she had done in her shop when she came across a box of Window Candles.
"What are these adorable things?" she asked. Oh you found my Window Candles, I made those to put on gifts I gave to my co-workers, I forgot I still had some left. "Well these need to go everywhere!" she exclaimed.
Oh, I don't know, that is all I have left, and I was just going to give them away or something.
"Give them away!?! Retail is about selling, you will just have to make more because these will sell like hotcakes!"
SO UP IN THE WINDOWS AND ON THE COUNTERS THEY WENT..... SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!
The next thing I knew I was hiring a high school student to help me make them.....and then someone contacted me to sell them to other retail shops at Wholesale. I found my self knee deep in wax, ribbons, scents, tags, dyes, additives, and mounds of books trying to figure how and what to do next.
Until I landed here doing what I love to do best!
I began to realize my time was better spent with just the Wholesale Business, so I closed the Retail Shop in Salado and opened a Retail and Wholesale Online Store.
Today, Aunt Granny's is still a small family operated company, but a fun one with big plans.
Customer Service is my #1 priority
Giving customers the most for their money is my goal.
